The Cannes Film Festival kicked off this week in France with film premieres, Vanity Fair parties and of course, celebrities on the red carpet. Here’s some of the looks you might have missed amidst the chaos.
Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann
We might know Tilda Swinton as an actress, but she is also the partner of Sandro Kopp, a German-New Zealand conceptual artist who is 17 years her junior (and recently dyed his hair blonde to match her own). We didn’t spot Kopp at Cannes but Tilda did make face on the red carpet in silver from head to toe. Fun fact: She first stepped on this same red carpet in 1987.
Selena Gomez in Louis Vuitton and Bulgari jewels
She may be Justin Bieber’s ex, but she’s an artist in her own right. She recently made headlines for saying that social media is dangerous to youth mental health. She wore a white ensemble with a high-waist skirt from Vuitton, with scarlet red lipstick and a show-stopping glamorous necklace. A modern day Elizabeth Taylor.
Elle Fanning in Valentino
The waify actress is doing what Vogue calls “putting a fresh spin” on a traditional flower look, InStyle described her look as “resident Cannes princess,” while Hollywood Life called her a “fairy princess.” Let’s just call her Cinderella, ok?
Dita von Teese in Alexis Mabille and Chopard jewels
She was spotted at the Chopard party in an emerald green dress, but wowed with her traditional all-black look on the Cannes red carpet. The MAC cover girl and burlesque dancer, is also a fashion mogul with her own lingerie line. She remains inclusive about her ideas of beauty and once said: “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.”
Bella Hadid in Roberto Cavalli and Bulgari jewelry
The model and partner of the Weeknd stunned in a red dress that really matched the red carpet. She has worn a lot of killer looks this month, from the Met Gala to her angelic look at the Rocketman premiere to the Dior party ad walking the runway for Vuitton.
