Starting June 21, a work by Elmgreen and Dragset is going to be in the courtyard of the Hamburger Bahnhof museum in Berlin.
It’s called the Statue of Liberty, and is a piece of the Berlin Wall with an ATM carved inside of it.
Oh the American dream is alive and well. This just fuels the fire. But what does it say about Germany?
The museum explains in a statement: “Elmgreen & Dragset’s “Statue of Liberty” is a threefold work: a memorial to German separation, a monument recalling the lost time of infinite possibility directly after the fall of the Wall, and a warning about the selling off of history and the city.”
