A “Who What Where” Rundown of Art Basel Miami; DKNY Confirms Three Departures; The Most Popular ...
Entertainment 05 Dec 2016

It’s closing time for Art Basel Miami Beach. The “arty party” fair ended yesterday after having attracted the crème-de-la-crème of A-listers and models to the city like a beacon. As predicted, celebrities invaded Art Basel for its clubbing scene, where major musicians performed during the event with the likes of Bon Jovi, Ariana Grande, and Madonna among others. After having said that… what about the art?
It did feel like “celebrity week” last week, especially when Harry met RiRi in Barbados. The Prince met the singer for the first time during his official royal tour of the Caribbean. What’s more, Beyoncé just launched her own holiday-themed clothing line for the festive season. The collection features cropped tops and sweatshirts adorned with “I Sleigh All Day” and “I Came to Sleigh” perfectly embodying the essence of Queen Bey.
More news below on the “who, what, where” of celebs’ whereabouts during Art Basel Miami, and updates on art and fashion:
#1  Snapchat and Artsy Launch Geofilters For Art Basel Miami Beach
If you’re in a popular spot in Miami during art week, snap it and filter it. In celebration of Art Basel Miami Beach, Snapchat and Artsy have teamed up to produce limited edition Geofilters designed by 13 contemporary artists. These original filters were designed by Petra Collins, The Haas Brothers, and Chloé Wise to name a few.

#2  A “Who, What, Where” Rundown During Miami Art Week
With major art fairs such as these – especially in Miami – we cannot help but search for gossip and spot celebrities. At Art Basel Miami Beach, we were very much spoilt. P. Diddy, Paris Hilton, Nelly Furtado, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, and Emily Ratajkowski were just some of the popular figures seen on the scene.
However, a select number of these A-listers did not only come to Miami Beach to party. On November 29, Sarah Jessica Parker surprised audiences during the L’Eden By Perriet-Jouet opening night, while reading a love poem by W.H Auden on stage. Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs got serious during the fair’s opening night, touring with Hollywood art advisor Maria Brito. The music mogul apparently showed interest in two works by Ruben Ortiz-Torres and by Julieta Aranda. Is Latin American Art seeing an increase in popularity among celebrity collectors? Will the love spread to a wider net of collectors?
#3  Guess Which Art Museum Is The Most Instagrammed of 2016
According to a news source, the most popular art museum of 2016 is none other than (drum roll…) Musée du Louvre in Paris. This ranking is allegedly based on the number of Geotags on Instagram. The Louvre is followed by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Los Angeles; and The Broad, Los Angeles.
#4  Alex Katz Launches New Collaboration with H&M in Miami
Alex Katz, Karolina Kurkova
Last Wednesday, Miami Beach hosted the launch party of artist Alex Katz and H&M’s partnership. This art and fashion collaboration presents a ready-to-wear collection emblazoned with the artist’s signature and kitschy artworks. Katz’s portraits, including one of Brown and the artist’s wife, Ada Katz, decorate this capsule collection consisting of T-shirts, tote bags, throw pillows, maxi dresses, scarves, and tops.
#5  DKNY Says Goodbye to its CEO and Creative Directors
The fashion company will say goodbye to its chief executive Caroline Brown and to its creative directors Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow, whom are expected to leave before the end of the year. What will this mean for the brand in 2017?
#6  Wes Anderson Directed a Christmas Commercial for H&M
Christmas is most definitely my favourite time of the year. It is the only time streets are ornamented with fairytale-like lighting, display windows are decorated AND animated! Thirdly, lifestyle brands create a holiday film ad, bringing joy to the masses. H&M recently launched theirs last week and got indie film director Wes Anderson to direct it. That’s not all! Anderson’s favourite collaborator, Adrien Brody stars in the short film, as a conductor. Watch below!
