Alex Israel Releases Ice Cream That Is Good for Us
The artist has teamed up with Cha Cha Matcha to present you with a taste of LA!
Around the Globe 03 Apr 2020

Maybe Alex Israel was a fan of the Museum of Ice Cream. He has just teamed up with American cafe Cha Cha Matcha on two flavours of soft-serve and also redesigned their cups, giving the products the LA treatment.

Inspired by the skyscapes of Israel’s LA home, the ice cream is a dreamy sky blue. Flavoured vanilla and blue green algae, the soft serve gets its amazing colour thanks to spirulina, a very LA superfood that is nutrient dense and full of protein, iron, magnesium and a bunch of vitamins that are meant to better your skin elasticity, vitality and metabolic efficiency. So, basically, Alex Israel has made ice cream that is good for you.

When your friends at @chachamatcha invite you to imagine a soft-serve…Thanks for having me @matthewmorton ???????????? From Cha Cha’s post: ????☁️ With plenty of spring sky-gazing on the horizon, we teamed up with @alexisrael, one of our favorite multimedia artists, on a limited-edition collaboration ???? Inspired by his skyscape paintings of our shared L.A. home, Alex worked with us to develop ✨new cups✨ and two (2!) soft serve: strawberry ???? and vanilla + blue-green algae*???? Vegan in L.A., not vegan in NYC ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️ *Blue-green algae, a.k.a. spirulina, is one of the most nutrient-dense superfoods out there. Think: 〰️ Protein 〰️ Iron & magnesium 〰️ Beta-carotene (vitamin A — for skin elasticity & clarity) 〰️ Vitamins B1-3 (vitality, metabolic efficiency, skin clarity✨) 〰️ Antioxidants, to keep you forever young ????

In addition there is also a strawberry soft serve. The ice cream is served in blue cups, with bright curly pink writing that have Alex Israel written all over them. In fact, they were inspired by the artist’s original Sky Backdrop series, which themselves were inspired by the inimitable skies of Los Angeles. Israel’s original series was hand-painted at Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank, California, a nod to days before digital printing processes and the artisans that bring L.A.’s cinematic fantasies to life. Alex Israel X Cha Cha Matcha is available at the chains LA and NYC locations all month.
