She might not be a household name but watch out for Australian, New York-based artist Kathy Temin, who makes bizarre, almost comical sculptures of trees and strange totems.
The latest of the artist’s sculptural practice is in Kimye’s Los Angeles home. Literally, the artist used fun fur, a fleecy type of material and what we imagine as the kind of stuffing you use for teddy bears, to make white Christmas trees, which the Kardashians had a ball posing in front of.
Temin must have made about 100 different sculptural trees, because Kimye’s home was lined with them in a grand hallway. “The artist’s signature choice of medium, synthetic fur, subverts the monumental scale and focus of her sculptures, bringing into the conversation allusions to softness, childhood and play,” writes her gallerist.
Kim K calls her work: “Very Dr. Seuss, Lorax, Grinch vibes.”
