On December 5, New York artist Mavi Phillips is organizing an event called Dangerous Flowers at the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn; an event presented by Dame Products (vibrators designed by women) and Girls on Film collective.
This is where the mic, the space and the lens is given to women who are “celebrating self-empowered sexuality through film, art,” and of course, a panel discussion.
Expect to see sexy shorts directed by women, animated films, documentary shorts and fantasy-filled films that are sex-positive, but also deal with birth control and sexism in health care.
“We aim to spark discussion about alternative, overlooked, and under-represented portrayals of sexuality,” says Phillips. “We want to gather these inspirational artists making the uncompromising films needed to inspire people to do the bravest thing of all: be themselves.”
