Paris Fashion Week’s FW 2025 season has just drawn to a close and of course we were glued to our Instagram feeds, on the lookout for any arty references. To our delight, several of our favourite designers didn’t disappoint! So, here’s a recap of the arty highlights at this season’s Paris Fashion Week!
UNDERCOVER’s Collaboration with Anne-Valerie Dupond
Japanese label UNDERCOVER presented their 35th anniversary collection this season by revisiting its 2004 “But Beautiful” collection. Reigniting a collaboration that first occurred 21 years ago, the brand worked with French artist Anne-Valerie Dupond who created six pairs of shoes and one accessory for the collection. Her designs included whimsical footwear with creatures on the toes.
Schiaparelli’s Surrealist References
Of course, being a fashion house with roots in Surrealism, there is always going to be a nod to the artistic movement at any Schiaparelli show. Feathers and trompe l’oeil corsets were all on show, as well as oversized jewellery and gold elements such as the huge eyes that the Daniel Roseberry era of Schiaparelli has become so known for.
HAYELI’s Collaboration with Tigran Tsitoghdzyan
Armenian label HAYELI collaborated with artist Tigran Tsitoghdzyan for its show at the Palais de Tokyo. Tsitoghdzyan’s famed portraits – where the sitters’ are covering their faces with their hands – were screen printed onto the garments that were paraded down the Paris runway. Called “Self Reflection” the collection explored the idea of perception and identity in the digital age.
Dior’s HER DIOR Documentary
While we could focus on Dior’s runway show – which saw Maria Grazia Chiuri take influences from Virginia Wolf’s Orlando – we’re going to look at a documentary instead here. The house used Paris Fashion Week – and International Women’s Day – to debut their HER DIOR documentary, which chronicles the house’s collaborations through a feminist lens. These include collabs with Judy Chicago amongst many many other female trailblazers.
YSL’s Pop of Colour
While there were no direct arty references in the YSL show, we couldn’t resist including it in our recap because of how colourful and vibrant it was. The show saw models parade down the runway in every colour of the rainbow, and also brought us the return of Bella Hadid to the runway.
