Vanessa Beecroft has had a spectacular and illustrious career as an artist, the Italian-born conceptual queen first came into the spotlight in the early 1990s when she had women standing in static positions for hours on end. But that’s not where it ends, as the clothes they wear say as much as the performance art.
Beecroft x Helmut Lang
In 2002, the artist teamed up with Helmut Lang for an exhibition at the former Jeffrey Deitch gallery in New York, called VB45, which proved to be more art than fashion, which is the perfect imbalance.
Beecroft x Prada
Miuccia Prada was an early supporter of Beecroft, inviting her to show at Prada’s early gallery in 1993, showing. In 2000, the brand’s creative director collaborated again with Beecroft, staged a performance in Prada’s Milan HQ, in the gallery where their ready-to-wear is shown each season. This was one of the first places where the art and fashion crossover took place. Roses, sunflowers and cacti were shown alongside the models.
Beecroft x Valentino
Beecroft helped Valentino release their Untitled Rockstud pre-fall collection with trenchcoat-clad models all lined up on a staircase of wooden crates. The piece had Beecroft filming and photographing 25 different men and women at the New York Academy of Art.
Beecroft x Kanye West
Beecroft joined forces with Kanye West in 2008 for an album release, then, she also showed some artworks at West’s wedding, but the duo really sparked interest with the Yeezy Season Three runway show, where various models premiered his nude collection.
Beecroft x Kim Kardashian
The reality TV star teamed up with Beecroft for a series of nude photographs to promote her new fragrance, which is modeled after the star’s body (truth be told, the bottle looks a lot like a similar-shaped for Jean Paul Gaultier).
