The artist Benedict Hughes’ has created a new
portrait series of china plates, which honors the greatest artists of our time – who are all vegans and vegetarians.
Who knew that Brancusi, Leonardo, Anne Hathaway and Pamela Anderson all had this in common? Also, William Blake was a non-meat eater, so was Friedrich Nietzsche, Plato and Franz Kafka.Who else? Kate Bush, Prince and Vivienne Westwood (of course). There are roughly 50 plates but the artist plans on making 50 more.
“I tried to include people I like,” said Hughes, who is selling them for roughly $300 each. “It will be nice to show the work to people who are responsive, instead of shoving it down their throat.”
