Creative Hairstyles When You Are Not Ready for a DIY Cut Just Yet
For those of us who aren’t ready to give ourselves a home-made hair cut
Beauty & Wellness 22 Apr 2020

Besides being unable to control how long we’re all inside for, we’re also unable to control how our hair grows. Inevitably, our hair is growing and right now visits to the hair salon are pretty impossible. Many celebs have been taking matters into their own hands, cutting their own hair on in some cases even shaving their own heads. While many of us are eagerly awaiting the day we can see our hairdressers again, some are embracing having an extra few inches of hair on their head. So, now is the perfect time to try out some more creative hairstyles. Here are a few ideas for how to make the most of your long hair.

Go Back To School

Remember those hair scrunchies you used to wear in gym class? Do you have a pile of them stacked away in a draw somewhere? Well why not use them to accessorise your ever-growing ponytail, it’s an easy and chic way to make a statement in your next zoom call.

Master The French Braid

Have you always wanted to be able to make a french braid, but never managed to get the hang of it? Well, now’s the perfect time to learn how! There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube and they’re not too dissimilar from your regular school-girl braids. And, as an added bonus, it keeps your hair off your face AND is a good arm workout!

Get Sculptural

If you can, manipulate your hair into fun shapes and structures as an artistic statement. Just think of all the crazy selfies you’ll be able to make! Check out Laetitia Ky’s Instagram page for some insane inspo.

Want to add colour to your mane without opting for hair dye? Why not add a ribbon into your braid or use one instead of a headband, it’s a great way to make a style statement without making any drastic decisions.

Missing your art boy right now? Feeling the love? This one is super simple: make two small braids on either side of your hair, towards the front, grab some bobby pins, and pin them in a shape of a heart et voila! You’ll be a walking cupid!

Go Vintage

Ever wanted to try a vintage look but not sure how it would turn out? Why not have a go at rocking victory rolls? You never know, old Hollywood vintage glamour could become your new signature look!.

Get The Hairspray Out

OK, so this one is for the braver art girls out there. Have you ever wondered what you would look like with all your hair standing up on end? Well, with A LOT of hairspray (and patience) you can. Just be warned, this may take a while and assistance may be required. (It’s also probably worth checking you have a good supply of conditioner on hand to wash this one out!)

Have A Go At Kiss Girls

You know those baby hairs that you sometimes see laid over pop-stars’ faces? These are called kiss curls (or sometimes referred to as laying edges), and they look totally badass. Most often associated with black hairstyles, they are a look anyone can wear and are a great way to make your baby hairs #fashion. They are actually super fiddly but luckily there are lots of Youtube videos to help you get started.

Try A Faux Bob

If you’re super sick of your long hair, but don’t want to give yourself the chop, why not try a faux-bob? Elle Fanning topped all the best dressed lists when she rocked the look on the red carpet for the premiere of her film The Roads Not Taken. Why not give your friends a shock by posting this style all over your social media feeds!
