Damien Hirst teams up with Officine Panerai for watch paintings

The luxury Italian watch company Officine Panerai has teamed up with British art rebel Damien Hirst for the Watches & Wonders Miami 2018 show, which shook down last weekend in Miami, where they showed two of the artist’s spin paintings from 2011. It’s a collaboration, of course, and the pieces are adorned with the famous watchmaker’s faces embedded into the artworks. It looks a bit strange but Hirst stands by it. “I love Panerai. The watches are timeless and I made this spin painting using black Panerai watch faces without hands in the pattern of the seeds in the head of sunflower,” Hirst explains in a statement. “I hope the painting makes you think, we are here for a good time, not a long time.”
