In terms of dating, there are plenty of options to choose from in the art world. From fair directors, curators and artists themselves, they all have their pros and cons. So here’s our list of who you should be getting close to at the next gallery opening!
1. The Art Student
Sure, being with an art student is cute. He’s reading books, he’s “intellectually engaged” and he’s supposedly making art too. But what next? Most likely, he’s got a few years of soul searching before he’s made it and, girl, we don’t have time for that. An art student might be fun for a summer fling, but a long-term relationship? We don’t think so. Thank you, next!
2.The Advisor
The art advisor is popular. He knows everyone, from artists to collectors; he’s certainly well connected. You’ll go to all the parties as he sweet talks business deals left, right and centre. But can your art advisor hunk be trusted? Be careful of this one, when something seems too good to be true, it usually is.
3. The Artist
Once a guy is officially able to call himself an artist, you know he’s established. There’s also a chance that you’ll become his muse and make it into the history books. But darling, you only have to look at art history to see how many girls were treated badly by their artist beau. While you’ll look great on his arm, there will be other art girls trying to steal him from behind your back, and most likely, in front of it too. Artists are temperamental, they’re emotional, their careers go up and down like a rollercoaster, and unfortunately honey, so will your relationship.
4. The Curator
The curator really is a good catch. Admired and respected by artists and critics alike he’s an influencer, but a subtle one. He allows his artists to take center stage, meaning that he’ll also provide you with all the attention you deserve too. We have a good feeling about this one!
5. The Patron
If we could date anyone, without a doubt it would be the patron. The one with the real influence, the patron supports museums, galleries and artists, with the means to make and show their work. Their names appear on posters, on the top of museum buildings and they’re at all the key fairs and events. Girl, life with this one will certainly be lavish, I hope you enjoy flying…
