In addition to a new building (the Marcel Breuer-designed former home of the Whitney Museum, no less), the Met has a brand-new logo. Unfortunately, everyone kind of hates it. Designed by branding firm Wolff Olins, which has also worked with brands like ZocDoc and 3M, the logo features reddish lettering, massive serifs, and leaning letters that are supposedly meant to evoke the Temple of Dendur.
Maybe it will just take us all a little while to warm up to it. After all, remember the reaction to the Whitney’s rebranding?
