Art World Men: Jim Carrey
For the 27th edition of the Outsider Art Fair, the premier art fair dedicated to showing artists without MFAs (basically, not traditionally trained or connected in the “art world”), which returns on January 17-20 in New York, they’re turning to celebrity art.
Joining the fair the first time is Maccarone, a gallery with locations in Los Angeles and New York, who will present a solo exhibition of political cartoons by Jim Carrey, a first in the world of art. The Grinch star shows his Twitter-promoted cartoons, political satire in bold brushstrokes of marker and ink, which criticize Trump, the U.S. constituency and the country at large.
His tragically sad, yet funny pieces of artwork on paper, are a much-needed commentary – if you can handle their harshness. Some will be shown for the first time ever. Check out his Tweets below for some solid art entertainment.
