We all have our flaws. Nobody, not even those airbrushed models in the magazines, is perfect. When it comes to our careers, we tend to try to hide any sign of imperfection from view, but did you know that those things you struggle with could actually become your best asset? Wanna know how?! Read on!
Acknowledge Them
Instead of shying away from anything that makes you look less than perfect, own them! Once you know what you struggle with, you’ll be able to work on it.
Appreciate That You Are Unique
It’s OK to struggle in some areas. While you may have issues with sums or getting on top of your paperwork, you may be great at schmoozing artists and clients. So really, you are unique and that’s great. Don’t compare yourself to others!
See How You Can Work On Them
It’s likely that with a little bit of work, those things you once found super difficult might actually become very easy. Why not take a course or do a little reading? You’ll get the hang of it in no time.
Get Over Any Insecurity
While you may feel self-conscious about all those little things you are bad at, there is a high chance that others don’t even notice. I mean, let’s be real, they’re probably too busy worrying about their own flaws. Don’t let any insecurity get in the way of your work, be proud of everything that you do!
Highlight What You Are Good At
Once you know what you’re not so good at, you’re in a great position to shine a light on what you find pretty easy. Who has time for dwelling on the hard stuff? Make sure you are loud and proud about the areas in which you excel!
And, If All That Fails, Delegate!
If there really is no hope in you mastering something, then don’t do it! Why not ask a colleague to step in when you’re having a tough time. In return, you can help them with something they aren’t so great at. Teamwork makes the dream work!
