Hey art girl, are you finding it difficult to fall asleep right now? We feel you! Despite staying indoors all day, a lot of us are struggling to get enough zzzzzzzs at the end of long days indoors. But we think we know something that might help you. Art world bad boy Maurizio Cattelan has released a series of digital bedtime stories with the New Museum and he’s enlisted some top artists to join him!
Available to listen via the New Museum’s website, the series of night-time recorded stories include snippets by the likes of Tacita Dean and Iggy Pop. With new episodes uploaded every week, upcoming recordings are set to include Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter and Takashi Murakami. Each participant has been asked to read part of their favourite book, though some chose to recite their own writing or even go for a spot of improv. The initiative was born out of Cattelan’s wish to help us stay together during these days of isolation, and we love how it gives us a chance to know what books are on our favourite artists bookshelves.
The recordings were each made in home studios on mobile phones and laptops, with a new story being made available online every day until the end of June. So, here’s hoping Cattelan and friends help us to have sweet dreams tonight!
