Art World Highlights Of NYC Fashion Week
From Gauguin Inspirations to Paris Hilton At The Moulin Rouge
Art Stuff 16 Sep 2019

What art girl doesn’t love fashion? That’s right, none. Fashion is basically art that you can wear and, as New York Fashion Week has just come to an end, we thought we’d show you our highlights of what went down last week.

Vacation Chic At Gypsy Sport

Palm trees, fishnets and glitter. The warm colours had us wishing for summer again, and the crazy make-up gave us all the art-girl feels. This will definitely be what we’re wearing once the sun comes out again!

Arty Romanticism At Rodarte

Instead of a runway show the Rodarte girls photographed their best celeb pals – including Yalitza Aparicio and Kirsten Dunst – in front of lush flowers, and French-style romantic paintings. The whole concept had us feeling fantasy garden vibes and we wish we had an invite.

Mondrian Vibes At Pyer Moss

Remember that infamous Piet Mondrian YSL dress? Or course you do. Pyer Moss must have taken inspo from the 1960s because this ensemble has us feeling heavy vintage vibes.

Over-the-Top Everything At Tomo Koizumi

We all love clothes that steal attention from every angle. Tomo Koizumi’s new collection was full of tulle, feathers and attitude. His models’ hair was gelled up into the air, and their faces covered in heavy make-up. The perfect scene-stealing looks.

Questioning Americana At Prabal Gurung

Nepalese designer Prabal Gurung asked all the important questions, sending models down the runway wish sashes covered with “Who Gets To Be American” printed all over them. We all love a statement piece, and what fashionista doesn’t love to throw out a political statement.

Gauguin Inspirations At Christopher John Rogers

Overt art references were few and far between this fashion season (sad-face), but Christopher John Rogers gave us all what we were waiting for: clothes inspired by Gauguin’s Tahiti Girls.

Neon Everything At Jeremy Scott

What would a fashion week highlights list be without art girl favourite Jeremy Scott? For his new collection, Scott was out to have fun, taking us to a neon rock opera, with blue hair and bright colours, we’re just waiting to pick up our tickets.

The Blonds Get Together With Paris Hilton

To celebrate their show, as well as Moulin Rouge on Broadway, The Blonds brought none other than Paris Hilton on stage to perform in Moulin Rouge. The perfect end to fashion season in New York!
