Holding strong the belief that art should be transcendent, he paints vivid abstract depictions applying multiple layers of paint on canvas. Central part of his artistic process is the use of small or large squeegees in order to achieve his impressive abstract patterns.

What will never be forgotten in the art world is when the famous art critique Jerry Saltz invited young artists to make a painting that is similar to Gerhard Richter’s work. Casselman won the challenge by copying Richter to perfection and gaining $ 155 as well as an article in the New York magazine. This creative engagement with Richter’s work didn’t end there. Casselman developed his artistic process based on Richter’s abstract qualities. In this regard, Inhaling Richter and Luminor were two remarkable painting series of Casselman, which were highly inspired by the famous American abstract painter by was once asked to copy.

Besides Richter’s influence, Casselman admits he felt in love with Jackson Pollock’s “One, Number 31”. The Pollock masterpiece had such a great artistic impact on him that almost changed his life. Now, the London-based Gazelli Art House is going to showcase the New York-based artist’s latest works for the first time in the United Kingdom. This is an exciting initiative that promises to communicate to the international audience of London the freshest side of Casselman’s painting record.

The London show opens June 8 and is on display until July 23.
