This new museum, called the Diva Antwerp, opened May 8 in the Belgian city of Antwerp. Expect to peruse 18th century jewels, stories about the world’s famous heists and find one of the world’s biggest karats. It’s a new museum devoted to diamonds, jewellery and silverware from the 18th century onward, focusing on Antwerp’s diamond story and beyond. A few highlights include the medieval chain-link purses, Alice in Wonderland-esque pocket watches and diamond-encrusted tiaras which once belonged to European royalty. It isn’t all diamonds, as much of the museum tells the story of diamonds through paintings, sculpture, silver, gold and brass. There are also 300-year-old mirrors.
