JOB OVERVIEW

Holly Baxter & Associates Art Advisory seeks an intern/junior associate with an interest in contemporary art, a passion and expertise with social media, and excellent administrative and technical skills. We provide a multi-faceted experience working in the exciting and fast-paced world of art advising.

HBA Art Advisory was founded by Holly Baxter and is based in San Francisco. HBA Art Advisory provides independent curatorial and comprehensive art advisory services for private collectors, corporations and institutions. Our expertise ranges from emerging contemporary art to modern masters. Our aim is to facilitate relationships between artists, collectors, art venues and institutions. With two decades of experience, long-term relationships and industry knowledge, HBA is able to assist collectors in acquiring significant works of art from both established and emerging artists.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities in collaboration with Art Associate:

  • Collaborate on our social media strategy, channels and posts. Fluency with Instagram is a plus
  • Assist with research, exhibition planning and events
  • Collaborate on marketing strategies including email marketing and campaigns 
  • Organizing shipment, delivery and installation logistics
  • Input and update data on our collection management database. Including inventory checks and reviews for clients 
  • Collaborate on mailing list and other administrative responsibilities

What you will learn:

  • About the art market and contemporary artists 
  • How an art advisory firm operates
  • How to work with commercial galleries, auction houses and museums

What We Require:

  • Proficient in MailChimp, Google Docs, and social media platforms. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop a plus
  • Prior experience with museums and art galleries is desired and preferred
  • Candidate with a background in art history is desired 
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Knowledge of art history and contemporary art
  • Individuals that are professional, highly organized and self-starters
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced small business environment

 Details:

  • Timing is flexible and the length of the internship is open
  • Hours and schedule flexible
  • Hourly pay based on experience 
  • Work can be done remotely with in person meetings if the candidate is based in San Francisco
