JOB OVERVIEW

Chase Contemporary seeks full or part time candidates for immediate hire to join the company’s sales force. Chase Contemporary is a woman-led gallery with a 10,000 square foot space in the heart of SoHo, New York, in addition to a location in East Hampton, and focuses on emerging and established gallery artists and secondary market works. The gallery presents approximately 10 exhibitions every year and exhibits in 3-4 art fairs per year.

The candidate must have at least three years experience in a gallery, auction house, art consultancy, or other luxury goods sales experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of sales and extensive knowledge of contemporary art so as to source and advise on potential acquisitions and consignments. The candidate must be personable and professional; someone who is highly collaborative, energetic, & motivated. The ideal candidate is an individual who wants to be in a high-growth, start-up environment, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

– Existing client base & industry contacts a plus

– Experience with multiple sales channels; e-commerce, auction and private sales

– 3+ years professional experience in the art world

– Extensive knowledge of the art market, art history, valuation & authenticity

– Commercially minded, strategic and entrepreneurial mind-set

– Research and writing skills

– Must be flexible and proactive

– Multiple languages a plus

– Photography & design skills a plus; knowledge of Adobe programs a plus

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

– Client development and sales

– Planning and managing local and international art fairs

– Serving as artist liaison for multiple gallery artists

– Coordination of gallery exhibitions

– Working closely with gallery partners to execute day-to-day operations and long-term goals of the business

– Drafting correspondences & reaching out to press to promote exhibitions and artists

– Researching new acquisitions and artists, creating artist decks

– Assist with gallery publications and digital content

Compensation consists of a base salary + commissions. The gallery is open 7 days/ week from 10AM- 7PM.

Please note your ideal work schedule in your cover letter- which days of the week, part or full time, and if you prefer a 10-6PM shift or a 11-7pm shift. In the summer, we will stay open until 8pm and there would be the option of a 12-8pm shift as well.
