JOB OVERVIEW

Artsy seeks an Art Market Editor to assign, edit, and write editorial articles on the art market and collecting.

The Art Market Editor will oversee coverage of auctions, art fairs, and galleries, as well as produce data storytelling, market analysis, collecting tips, and profiles on collectors and industry leaders. They will work closely with Artsy’s in-house editorial team and freelance writers to conceptualize and execute timely and relevant stories. 

Through insightful, engaging, and original coverage, the Art Market Editor will position Artsy as a thought leader on the art market and a must-read resource for collectors.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Edits or writes 3-4+ stories per week, including sourcing images and building layouts
  • Develops a dynamic, monthly calendar of market and collecting content—including quick-turnaround stories and long-lead features and reports—spanning market analysis, auctions and fairs reporting, data storytelling, and collector profiles
  • On-the-ground reporting in New York and potentially other cities during major art fair and auction moments
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Content to set Art Market content strategy
  • Collaborates with colleagues across the Artsy organization to align content with the Artsy marketplace
  • Cultivates a network of talented freelance contributors

Who You Are:

  • 3+ years of work experience in an editorial or journalistic capacity within the art world or the business and finance sector, ideally at a digital publication 
  • Must have demonstrated skill with hands-on editing, as well as writing, pitching, and conceiving stories at a fast pace
  • Must have experience writing headlines, following a style guide, and optimizing text for SEO
  • Must have familiarity with the art market and contemporary art and feel comfortable discussing wider economic and cultural trends and how they translate to the art market
  • You are obsessed with the art market and eager to become a leading voice in the industry
  • You are extremely organized, detail-oriented, and always meet deadlines
  • You are flexible, embrace opportunities for growth, and work well both independently and as part of a close-knit team
