LoZo Gallery is looking for an Intern with a background in African Art, Web Design & Sales, Classifying & Cataloging, restoration, while assisting with daily gallery operations.

Intern hours & dates are flexible based on your schedule, but it is expected that the intern will be available a minimum of 30 hours a week during business hours.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Assist with maintaining and curating the gallery, processing high end art sales, participating in consultations with clients and designers, handling artworks for display/sale/storage, assisting with events and marketing, photography and photo editing, and email campaigns, assisting with research, providing administrative support, restoration, and perhaps even assisting in an art show. However, the principal role will be to assist in unpacking, identifying, and placing online the contents of a 20-foot container of African art.

Interns that have studied African art will be able to handle and familiarize themselves with thousands of art objects with profound cultural significance spanning hundreds of tribes. Research on specific pieces for descriptive blurbs, will increase the intern’s understanding and appreciation of African art. This internship and its multiple “hats” and responsibilities will provide the practical experience that help build the foundation of a strong resume.

Minimum Requirements:

· Fine Arts degree with studies in African art history, writing proficiency, detail oriented, able to multitask.

Fine Arts Masters, or specialization in certain Africa tribe(s) is advantageous.

· Having lived in Africa is desired but not required.

· Web design experience is advantageous.

Interns will receive a 1099 contract, a gas stipend for travel, as well as 3% commission on leads or 5% commission on sales.

Deadline: The internship begins June 1, 2024 (or until post is filled) and lasts for three months with the possibility of extension.
