Founded in 1970 by gallerists from Basel, Art Basel today stages the world’s premier art shows for Modern and contemporary art, sited in Basel, Miami Beach, and Hong Kong. Defined by its host city and region, each show is unique, which is reflected in its participating galleries, artworks presented, and the content of parallel programming produced in collaboration with local institutions for each edition.

Art Basel is seeking a highly reliable, creative and proactive person to join the Marketing and Communications Team in Asia as a:

Chinese Assistant Digital Editor (Part-time)

Chinese Associate Digital Editor (Part-time) will contribute to Art Basel’s Chinese publishing operations and development, as well as delivery of Chinese digital content across our channels.

  • Support planning and management of daily operations of Chinese content production
  • Collaborate with Regional Head of Marketing and Communications Asia, Marketing and Content Manager Asia and the Editorial team on editorial planning
  • Manage online content publication across all Art Basel Chinese channels, including Art Basel website and social media channels
  • Create and maintain best practice for website publishing with Content and Communications team
  • Edit, proofread, and approve assignments and copies for external copywriters / agencies
  • Translate copies for website, social media and newsletters from English to Chinese (Traditional and Simplified)
  • Evaluate finalised copy for compliance with policies, style and tone
  • Manage newsletter communications to key stakeholders, including copy-editing, proofreading, internal approval and send-out
  • Monitor, analyse and optimise performance to meet traffic, engagement and growth targets
  • Implement best practices, workflow, tolls and templates to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of the publishing process
  • Support video production as necessary


  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as editor (preferably with focus on digital content) or similar roles in arts and culture
  • BSc / BA in Art History, Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Journalism, Communications or relevant field; art education or knowledge is not essential but advantageous
  • Exceptional ability in Chinese writing, editing and proofreading
  • Proficiency in Simplified and Traditional Chinese; fluency in English; other Asian languages a plus
  • Proven track record in translation (English-Chinese)
  • Experience in SEO, analytics, content management system and Mailchimp essential
  • Up-to-date with developments in digital content and Chinese social media
  • Ability in planning, project management and coordinating people and operations
  • Outstanding communication skills and teamwork
  • A collaborative spirit, flexible approach to work, and the ability to work to short deadlines under pressure
  • Meticulous attention to details

The position will be located in Hong Kong, and will report to the Marketing and Content Manager Asia (based in Hong Kong). The position can also be fulfilled remotely and will be available from September 2021. The position will offer an attractive package commensurate on experience.
