About the Role

This role plays an integral part in the smooth running and financial integrity of the department on a day to day basis. In addition, it provides support to the specialist business getting teams and ensures client interactions with the department are efficient and deliver a high level of service.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for all pre and post-sale coordination, liaising with Marketing, Operations, Photography and Finance departments to ensure flawless sale activity and maintenance of sale related deadlines. You will be responsible for the management of the department’s inventory, consignor relationships, document management, contract maintenance and shipping coordination.

Under the guidance of the Head of Sale you will assist with the full cataloguing, research and due diligence of all Post War & Contemporary artworks consigned to New York sales as well as those consigned for Los Angeles, London and Hong Kong sales that are consigned through the New York offices.

You will act as a main liaison for the department ensuring New York issues are fully handled in a parallel fashion, and will work directly with the buyers and consignors and all internal departments to ensure handling of all activities as they relate to the consignment and purchase process.

In addition to the tasks and responsibilities listed, you may be required to perform other duties as assigned by your Manager.

Required Skills

• BA in Art History including one or more years’ experience in an auction house setting
• Extremely trustworthy and respectful of confidentiality in professional settings
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional time management and organisational skills
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft/Outlook and database programmes
• Positive and proactive, with a passion for fine art and auction field
