Art Basel stages the world’s premier art shows for modern and contemporary works, sited in Basel, Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Paris. Defined by its host city and region, each show is unique, which is reflected in its participating galleries, the artworks on display and the parallel content programming produced in collaboration with the local institutions. In addition to ambitious stands featuring leading galleries from around the globe, each show’s singular exhibition sectors and artistic events spotlight the latest developments in the visual arts, offering visitors new ideas, new inspiration and new contacts in the artworld.

We are seeking a highly organized, energetic and proactive person to join the Marketing and Communications Team in Art Basel’s Hong Kong office as:

Chinese Social Media Coordinator (Full-time)

Full-Time Contract Position: Immediate

Based in Hong Kong, remote working arrangement possible

This contract employment is for a fixed term of one year and may be converted to a permanent position upon satisfactory performance and availability.


Chinese Social Media Coordinator (Full-time) will contribute to Art Basel’s publishing operations and content development on the organization’s Chinese social media channels – WeChat and Weibo.

  • Collaborate with Regional Head of Marketing and Communuications Asia, Marketing, Content Manager Asia and the Editorial team on Chinese social media content and advertising planning
  • Support content planning and management of daily operations of Chinese social media channels
  • Edit, proofread, and approve assignments and copies for external copywriters / agencies
  • Ideation of original content and design optimized for Chinese social media
  • Translate social media copies from English to Simplified Chinese
  • Evaluate finalised copy for compliance with editorial guidelines, tone and style
  • Monitor, analyse and optimise performance to meet traffic, engagement, and growth targets
  • Analyze Chinese social media market trends and target audience behaviours
  • Implement best practices, workflow, tools and templates to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of the publishing process on Chinese social media channels
  • Project manage and implement digital projects on Chinese platforms as needed
  • Support social-first photo and video production for the Chinese media channels as necessary


  • Minimum 4 years of proven experience as digital marketer or digital editor (preferably with focus on Chinese social media platforms) or similar roles in arts and culture
  • Experienced in WeChat and Weibo content and ad planning essential
  • Exceptional ability in Chinese writing, editing and proofreading
  • Proficiency in both Simplified Chinese translation; fluency in English
  • Proven track record in translation (English-Simplified Chinese); with social media copywriting skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Chinese social media landscape, including WeChat, Weibo and other popular platforms such as Little Red Book and Douyin
  • BSc / BA in Art History, Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Journalism, Communications or relevant field; art education or knowledge is not essential but advantageous
  • Ability in planning, project management and coordinating people and operations
  • A collaborative spirit, flexible approach to work, and the ability to work under short lead time
  • Fundamental video editing skills (Premiere Pro / Final Cut Pro) will be an advantage
  • Meticulous attention to details

The position will be located in Hong Kong, and will report to the Marketing Content Manager Asia. The position is immediately available. The position will offer an attractive package commensurate on experience.
