Key Objective:

The strategist / analyst’s primary responsibility is to define and set actionable client strategy for China business (incl. auction, BN marketplace etc.,). He/she aim to working closely with China MD as well as local specialist/client liaison, provide an unrivalled experience to our Priority Clients by providing value-added client analysis, integrated sales insights, market trends forecasting etc.

Responsibilities include:

Client Strategy:

  • Setting and evolving client strategies cross categories by analysing all existing transaction and identifying challenges and opportunities to generate timely and appropriate next steps and tracking progress regularly.
  • Proactively overseeing the review of client profiles and organising strategic client review meeting to support local team identify gaps, progress, and opportunities in their portfolio of clients.

Research & Analytical work:

  • Providing market research on client acquisition by utilizing news articles, WealthX, Forbes and Hurun Lists and other such sources.
  • Identifying cross dept and cross channel client growth opportunities and provide data insight.
  • Responsible for client segmentation, bid/ sales analysis, KPI (if have) measurement and etc.
  • Enhancing China business and client data capabilities and continuously optimize client data platform.
  • Collect local requirement for the BI report

Bids Depts / Client Service:

  • Summarizing the bids from local team for each sale
  • Providing ad-hoc client service support to local team including Condition Reports, Selling Points etc.


  • Facilitating the organization of client events in collaboration with local team, Events and Client Strategy.
  • Proactively coordinating communications with Events to ensure timely invitation mailings and follow up event information is added to the client system.


  • Maintaining files (digital or hard-copy depending), Organizing Mail, Managing mailings and packages to clients via messenger and UPS/FedEx
  • Proof-reading and cross-referencing documents as needed
  • Create PowerPoint presentations (i.e. Lectures) as needed


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience on business intelligence, business analytics, CRM analytics
  • Auction business experience is a plus
  • Strong written/ drafting skills for correspondence, reports and presentations
  • Adept at handling sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • Good judgement and constantly on point in representing the Sotheby’s brand
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiastic client service attitude, team spirit and excellent telephone manner
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Experience in analytics toolkit: excel, SQL, Python, be familiar with BI tools will be a plus.
  • Skillful ability to interact in a calm, mature and professional manner
