We are looking for a Communications Associate to join our dynamic team in Tunis.
About the role:
The Communications Associate will oversee and execute the gallery’s communication strategy to ensure exhibitions, events, and news are effectively conveyed to diverse audiences. This role involves creating engaging content for social media, newsletters, and the website while maintaining the gallery’s online presence, and handling press inquiries. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and organizational skills, a proactive approach, and a strong interest in the arts.
Key responsibilities and duties:
Content Creation and Communication
• Develop and manage the gallery’s communication schedule, including regular updates to newsletters, social media, and the website
• Create and curate engaging social media content, aligning with the gallery’s visual and editorial identity
• Ensure the gallery website is up to date, highlighting exhibitions, events, and viewing room schedules
• Gather and compile news related to artists, exhibitions, and gallery activities for online dissemination
• Write and design brochures, newsletters and other materials to communicate gallery updates effectively
• Respond to and manage press inquiries, maintaining database of media contacts
Event and Exhibition Support
• Promote exhibitions, art fairs, and events across all online platforms
• Support the team in hosting events, exhibition openings, and artist studio visits, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for visitors
• Document events and exhibitions for digital platforms
Administrative and Operational Support
• Work closely with the gallery manager and director to set weekly and long-term goals for communication and outreach
• Assist the gallery manager with the daily operations of the gallery, including scheduling, filing, and logistics
Desired skills:
• Fluency in English, French, and Arabic
• Strong experience in design and creating and managing social media content across multiple platforms
• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
• Basic knowledge of website management tools (e.g., WordPress, Artlogic)
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign/Photoshop
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work collaboratively
• Interest in and familiarity with the arts and culture sector
The position is based in Tunis, Tunisia, and requires five days a week, Tuesday-Saturday, during gallery hours (10 AM–1 PM & 2 PM–6 PM). Availability for additional hours during events or exhibition openings is essential.
