The Hearth Gallery, home of the Bowen Island Arts Council, supports the art scene on Bowen Island, BC. The Gallery is in Snug Cove, within a walking distance to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry.

Job Description: 

We are currently looking for a Full-time Cultural Connector to assist the Executive Director in administration, art sales, marketing, and operations in the Gallery. Working with The Hearth Team, the Cultural Connector will assist in the coordination of the Gallery’s curatorial program, Art Gallery & community events, help deliver summer programs & workshops. Cash handling, financial matters and front-line sales for the Gallery and Gift Shop are part of the job description. Skills needed: Attention to detail, good organizational abilities, work without supervision, dependable and professional with strong communication and people skills for dealing with the public. Computer literacy experience with multiple social media platforms, digital and video media, and marketing to all ages.

Responsibilities: 

Administration, event planning, art sales, marketing, and operations in the Gallery.

Qualifications: 

Requirements: Interest in arts an asset. Business experience necessary. Mature, responsible and quick-thinking. Computer literate with strong skills with Microsoft Office, Google Drive and Creative Cloud applications. Some heavy lifting necessary. Strong minded individual but willing to learn and accept directions. Sense of humor a must! This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. The successful applicant must 1) be legally entitled to work in Canada, 2) be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada, 3) be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment, 4) be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment for a period of at least 16 weeks

Remuneration: 

Hours of work: full-time up to 35 hours per week, will include weekends and some evenings. Rate of pay: $20 per hour. Anticipated start date: early May.
