Christie’s, the world’s leading international auction house, is hiring an Expertise Coordinator to work in the Impressionist & Art department in Paris.

Type of contract : temp (intérim), 12 months.

Overall Purpose of the Role

Responsible for coordinating Expertise in collaboration with the Expertise Director. The role requires subject matter and market expertise in the art category. The role focus also on exporting property consigned for other sales sites (New York, London, Hong-Kong mainly). Role of support for the sale organisation and department activities in Paris.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks

Duties included but not limited

Expertise coordinator:

You will assist the Global Expertise Director based in Paris, with the following aspects of Expertise in Paris mainly but also in London, New York and Hong-Kong when needed:

  • Support with day-to-day tasks when needed, which include: shooting request, sending expertise letters and expertise follow up (for Paris sales).
  • Shipments coordination, hand carry risk management.
  • Expert’s payment and certificate follow up, sending the expertise paperwork and certificate to buyers after sale.
  • Meeting with expert in Paris and ensure effective communication with colleagues about each expertise file.
  • Complete expertise research for property confirming its authenticity.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager related to expertise processes.

Export assistant:

You will also be the Paris point person for the international team for the following:

  • Coordination of property consigned for export to London, New York, Zurich or Hong-Kong (French client export paperwork, KYC, shipping or receipting in Paris office, passport and export license’s application and follow-ups)
  • Ensure effective communication with Paris and international colleagues regarding consignments from France or requiring Paris office support.
  • Regular reporting to the Business Manager and HoD as to export activities (consignment levels, important client files, sale statistics, etc.)

Other Responsibilities/Tasks

  • Comps coordination for the catalogues (researches, uploads, copyright checks, suppliers payment)
  • Phone bidding
  • Clerc Live (Internet bidding)
  • Targeting and support to the sales
  • Office archive management

Qualification Requirements

  • Degree in Art History / Decorative Arts or Business
  • Significant paid work experience in related field
  • Fluent in French and Proficiency in English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Resistance to pressure and deadlines
