About the role


Overview: Provide support to operations at our San Francisco gallery and office on an ad hoc basis. Duties will include installing exhibitions, reconciling incoming property, moving goods to storage and supporting all other daily operations.

In your role as Freelance Art Handler you will be required to carry out the following:

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Instal exhibition previews for upcoming sales – unpacking property, hanging artwork, setting up display cases & pedestals and cleaning the space ahead of each deadline

• Adjust lighting to provide museum/gallery standard illumination for art on display

• Receive incoming shipments by checking condition and moving property to safe storage locations while maintaining barcode scanning procedures

• Unload/load trucks while maintaining proper paperwork & inventory procedures

• Unpack & pack fragile items carefully while maintaining proper inventory procedures

• Assist customers/shippers with pick-up and delivery of items while maintaining proper inventory and release procedures; ensuring correct and complete deliveries

• Maintain company security and standard operating procedures

• Maintain warehouse and gallery inventory standards

• Safely move and store display equipment

In addition to the tasks and responsibilities listed, you may be required to perform other duties as assigned by your Manager.

Required Skills:

• Excellent communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent customer services skills and desire to work with the public.

• Enthusiastic and calm under pressure, with a common sense approach.

• Committed, reliable and capable of working well as part of a team.

• Fluency in English necessary.

• Ability and willingness to be flexible with working hours.

• Interest in Fine Art, Antiques, and Collectibles.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

• Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions.

• Must be multi-functional and able to shift priorities quickly and easily.
