JOB OVERVIEW

The Role:

Christie’s is advertising this position on behalf of Wellcom Worldwide.

They are looking to expand its photographic team specialising in photographing paintings and general flat art at one of our client’s onsite studios.

Working as a part of that team, our ideal candidate would have proven experience in image capture using both medium format and DSLR systems, the ability to work with either continuous or flash lighting and a working knowledge of Photoshop and Macs.

The rate is £200 depending on experience.

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to

  • To photograph paintings and general flat art at the client’s central London and Park Royal studios as well as on location.
  • Efficient and accurate capture of a wide range of Fine Art that would typically include paintings, watercolours, prints, drawings, books, illuminated manuscripts and photographs.  
  • Able to follow our specific lighting techniques, procedures, and house style guides to match our client’s very high standards of quality and productivity. 

The Candidate

  • An excellent and accurate eye for colour and detail.
  • Proficiency in medium format and DSLR cameras.
  • Well versed in Capture One, Phocus and Photoshop within the Mac environment.
  • Full working knowledge of colour management from capture to print/screen. 
  • Experience in using DAM, Dalim or GMG workflow tools or similar software.
  • Knowledge of appropriate lighting techniques for the best possible captures using flash and continuous light. 
  • Ability to work to deadlines while maintaining the right balance between quality and production targets.
  • Must enjoy working as part of a team and have the ability to work independently.
  • Must be client-focused, organised, and possess a diligent approach to timekeeping and file management.
  • Flexibility to work extra hours and weekends during peak periods.
  • Experience in handling/moving delicate and heavy works of art. 
  • Experience in Flat Art digital capture.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with wider teams and our client using Google Suite or Office 365.
