Job Description

The Moco Museum Collection Employee must be able to work from our Amsterdam office. As a member of the Exhibition and Production Team, you ensure that the Moco Museum Collections are up to date, taking on an active management role. Furthermore, you are responsible for facilitating transport and loan traffic of the collection and carrying out conservation work. We are searching for an applicant with an eye for detail and has a natural feel for dealing with people and objects. As a candidate, you are stress-resistant and flexible with a proactive attitude, working accurately within a fast-paced environment. *Please note, the position of Museum Collection Employee is based in Amsterdam.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

• Implement the collection plan
• Register the collection in TMS
• Track and update art movement data in the museum database system
• Maintain and monitor a thorough registry of all objects across multiple locations.
• Prepare detailed reports for the Exhibition and Logistics Departments.
• Initiate internal and external transportation of collection works
• Prepare condition reports
• Organize the content libraries of exhibitions
• Create readers for museum staff and education
• Administer (preventive) conservation work of the collection
• Ensure the safe and timely preparation of works for incoming and outgoing loan traffic
• Facilitate cleaning schedule for exhibited works and assist with collection changes in the exhibition rooms
• Collection control completed by daily check rounds

Working Characteristics

• The care of the collection is your highest priority
• Team player mentality, supporting members where necessary, and you can also work independently
• Detail-oriented and accurate
• Experience with automated collection registration systems
• You value a structured working process for a clear overview of all various activities
• You thrive within a dynamic, lively environment, and you are capable of compartmentalization in order to manage many moving parts
• Flexibility and willingness to occasionally work outside office hours
• Capable of performing physically-demanding work at times

Job Requirements

• Education: Associate or Bachelor Degree in a relevant subject
• Equivalent experience in a comparable position and relevant training
• 2+ years of relevant museum work experience
• Knowledge of TMS
• Experience with handling museum objects
• Knowledge of preventive conservation
• Good command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing.
