Nxt Museum is the first fully-dedicated New Media Art Museum in the Netherlands. An immersive, multi-sensory, fine art destination that fuses art and technology to challenge assumptions, open minds and connect with what is Nxt.

The Role:

The Museum Experience Coordinator will help to drive and maintain the daily operations and make sure the experience of the visitors is the best it can be. You will be leading the day-to-day operations for the museum experience: managing staff, optimising visitor experience and flow, and stimulating productivity.

You are a dynamic and enthusiastic person, passionate about creating memorable experiences. You are highly organized and self-driven with an entrepreneurial mindset, the Museum Experience Coordinator will be a key connector between the Experience and Office teams. Responsibilities include: recruitment, training, coaching, staff scheduling, and ongoing optimisation of the visitor experience 

The Museum Experience Coordinator will work directly with the Head of Operations and is a key figure in our Museum Experience Team. You will work alongside the Marketing and Creative teams to develop the overarching Museum Experience Team strategy in line with Nxt Museum’s long term vision, mission and brand values.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing staff, optimising visitor experience and flow, and stimulating productivity.
  • Managing and coaching of the Museum Experience Staff team (30-50 people), cleaning and security.
  • Making the monthly schedules for the Museum Experience Team together with the Junior Museum & Office Coordinator.
  • Developing training and coaching programs for the Museum Experience staff in accordance with HR, Curation, Marketing, and Operation teams.
  • Liaising with Operations, Marketing and Creative teams to help create and maintain a truly unique visitor experience of the highest standards across all daily activities and events (ie. capturing data & feedback).
  • Empowering staff and visitors with knowledge.
  • An engaged, energising and exemplary presence on the museum floor — the driving force behind a close community of enthusiastic and skilled Museum Experience staff.
  • Manage incoming Customer feedback and implement this feedback into the daily operations.

Experience & Profile:

Inspiring, managing and coaching large groups of staff, for the day-to-day running of the museum experience. She/he has proven to be a dynamic and experienced person, capable of developing and inspiring customer facing and service minded staff and/or volunteers. Experience in managing a team within the museum/event industry (or alike) is a must as well as the ability to work well with teams of creative and technical talent.

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work flexibility across teams to maintain and build relationships at all levels.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (in both verbal and written forms).
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • A proven people manager, comfortable interacting & working directly with freelancers, temporary staff, suppliers and international counterparts alike.
  • A natural people person, confident and at ease interacting with all levels. An absolute team player.
  • Independent, quick thinker and solution driven.
  • Flexible (in mindset, work methods, about tasks and working hours).
  • Demonstrated energy, drive, determination and persistence. A hands-on attitude with the ability to multi-task.
  • Curious, open minded and inclusive with a global and forward looking mindset.
  • Passionate about art, culture and technology.
  • Experience with Customer feedback.
