Philanthropy Officer
The Barbican
Post Date: 02 Aug 2022

JOB OVERVIEW

Job type: Permanent, full time (35 hours per week)

Starting Salary: £30,440 inclusive of London Weighting

We’re one of Europe’s leading visual and performing arts and learning venues. We work with exceptional artists to build a creative international programme that crosses art forms. We’re both a civic space for our communities and a multi-platform venue showcasing the best artists, musicians, directors and actors to global audiences.

As we mark our 40th year, there couldn’t be a better time to join, as we enter an exciting new stage of the Barbican’s life. We have a new CEO, Claire Spencer, an ambitious creative vision led by Artistic Director, Will Gompertz and a major new renewal plan for the Centre, with a design team led by Allies and Morrison and Asif Khan Studio.

The Development department is responsible for securing income for the Barbican from a variety of sources including donations, grants, patronage, sponsorship and corporate memberships.

We’re seeking a Philanthropy Officer to play a key role in supporting and delivering a programme of engagement for our most generous individual donors and patrons. They’ll offer administrative support for the patron programme and deliver great customer service and stewardship for all our individual donors.

The Philanthropy Officer supports the Patrons Manager and the Head of Philanthropy.  Strong candidates for this role will be able to demonstrate experience of working in customer-facing roles with flair and energy. Specific fundraising experience is not essential, and we encourage anyone with a passion for the Barbican and an interest in developing skills in arts fundraising to apply.

The role is suited to individuals with good organisational and communications skills who recognise the importance of delivering high standards of donor care.  Desirable skills include knowledge of a box office ticketing system, but if you have transferable skills that demonstrate a willingness to take on new systems and databases then we encourage you to apply.
