Role Summary

Client Project Manager (Maternity Cover)

Capital Planning and Programme Management

Full time

Fixed Term 6 months with the ability to extend if required

Application Deadline: 17th July 2020

The British Museum is seeking to recruit a Client Project Manager whilst the permanent incumbent is on maternity leave.

The role is responsible for managing building refurbishment contracts through all RIBA work stages, to time and budget. Projects delivered by the department range from high-profile front of house projects, renewal and refurbishment, to innovative infrastructure projects in an unique environment. There is also the opportunity to help deliver master-planning activity.

It is an exciting time to join the British Museum’s Capital Planning and Programme Management Department in this role to deliver building construction projects that form part of the Museum’s Capital Plan and provide technical and professional advice to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, to a high standard, and in accordance with legal and statutory requirements.

Our visitor facilities are just as important as the many working spaces including laboratories, workshops, study and storage spaces which make up our estate. Your role will be to ensure successful delivery of building projects and positively contribute both to our visitors’ enjoyment and our ability to conserve and display the many objects within our charge.

Educated to degree level, or equivalent, the successful candidates will possess a relevant professional qualification and will have demonstrable experience as a Project Manager in a large-scale organisation, and experience working within Grade 1 listed buildings. With experience of coordinating complex projects, you will be delivery focused and will be able to successfully manage budgets.

We are looking for self-motivated and highly organised individuals, who can maintain a flexible and creative approach to finding solutions for complex problems. As strong communicators, you will be confident in diplomatically dealing with a variety of stakeholders including senior management.

Please see the attached Job profile for further information on the role responsibilities and essential requirements.
