Skarstedt is seeking a full-time Registrar and Shipping Coordinator to join its Paris team.

Job description:

• Orchestrate and supervise art handler teams
• Oversee scenography following the artist’s instructions and Director’s curation of each exhibition /showroom presentation
• Execute condition reports upon arrival of incoming works and log CR on Articheck
• Prevent and assess risk: follow-up and maintain up to date information on insurance policies for the gallery space and stock, oversee loans.
• responsible for all insurance related matters under the supervision of Senior Director, Paris and Business Director, New York
• Execute all duties in a cost-effective manner with an understanding of the given budget
• Optimize and maintain organization of artwork storage for the Paris Gallery, having a clear understanding of the volume used and available, producing and managing accurate inventory reports, negotiating the best rate per m3.
• Post-sale follow-up: ensuring a seamless client experience from consigning until delivery at the clients’ homes/institutions
• Maintaining and anticipating security standards towards public, staff and artworks present at the gallery
• Record, follow-up and chase due payments in relation to associated exhibition costs
• Manage local shipping and technical requirements of Paris + Art Basel in coordination with London and NY registrars

Additional duties:

• Should be able to assist if needed with art handling responsibilities at the Paris gallery
• Main point of contact for all IT-related questions with our IT provider
• Open to travelling and organizing shipments involving off-site viewings or other related projects

Requirements:

• Must have at least 2-4 years of experience as a registrar or shipping coordinator in the art market
• Must have extensive knowledge of fine art shipping and transport, VAT and import fees, as well as local and international customs laws- Must be able to maintain good relations with vendors
• Must be fluent in English and French
• Must be comfortable using Pack Office, ArtBase, ArtLogic, Articheck
