The Role

The primary function is to build and provide seamless day-to-day support and service to a client-base of 30-50 of Christie’s top clients partnering with Specialists / Liaisons and Senior Management to create further opportunities for business with Christie’s. 

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to

  • Work directly with clients and their staff to cultivate all aspects of their relationship with Christie’s creating further opportunities for business.
  • Interact with clients and their staff via telephone, on-site and off as appropriate.
  • Provide the vital pre-sale, sale and post-sale support necessary to maintain constructive and successful client relationships.
  • Develop a deep familiarity with all clients and their collection, anticipating and responding to their needs.
  • Well understand each client’s preferred working style and interests and plan accordingly
  • Generate significant value for clients and Christie’s through converting strong top client relationships into active business
  • Act as CTL lead  across multiple high priority clients, and CTL team members actively
  • Get business in numerous high value, profitable and international transactions that directly benefit the success of the Company
  • Answer and follow-through with incoming telephone calls to best assist clients in a timely manner.
  • Participate in telephone bidding with clients during auctions.
  • Work closely, efficiently, and effectively with specialist departments, Senior Management, Client Development, international and regional offices and internal support departments to best cultivate and serve the clients.
  • Maintain thorough client files and update client system as appropriate.         
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree and significant auction-house/arts-related work experience involving client-facing.
  • Must be very well networked and connected in the targeted geographic market.
  • Strong commercial awareness of market and trends and proactively acts upon any meaningful opportunities
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Team player mentality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication.
  • Strategic and creative thinking.
  • Negotiation & business judgement skills
  • Strong convener and networking skills
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful and time-sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with email, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends and travel as needed.
