ABOUT SOTHEBY’S METAVERSE

​​A dedicated platform for collectors of digital art, the recently launched Sotheby’s Metaverse offers a highly curated selection of NFTs handpicked by Sotheby’s specialists. 

Over the last year, Sotheby’s has been at the forefront of bringing valuable NFT artworks and collectibles to market, partnering with the world’s leading crypto artists, curators, and collectors. Early on in its exploration of NFTs, Sotheby’s recognized an opportunity to architect its own NFT marketplace which would serve as a virtual gathering space for the most sought-after NFTs available on the market. 

THE ROLE

Based in New York, Social Media Associate role offers the unique opportunity to contribute to the audience development of Sotheby’s Metaverse social channels through regular content creation, moderation and experimentation. Combining a love of the art world with a deep understanding of web3 audiences, this role will be responsible for crafting the daily communications for Metaverse social channels—working to bridge the traditional and digital art audiences.

The ideal candidate will report to the Head of Social Strategy at Sotheby’s, working closely with the Press, Marketing, and NFT Specialists, and act as a Web3 social media evangelist within the company. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver daily creative social-first content to increase followers, reach and engagement across our Metaverse social channels. 
  • Engage and moderate conversations with audiences on Twitter and Discord. 
  • Manage social comms for Metaverse auction campaigns inline with global social strategy.
  • Report on the impact of critical metrics for social media and communicate back monthly to the business.
  • Identify key web 3 calendar moments that align with the brand and outline ways of engaging in wider conversations. 
  • Maintain cross-functional alignment, clear communication, flawless integration and timely execution of programs with internal leadership.
  • Amplify Sotheby’s influencer programs and press opportunities in an effort to engage new and existing audiences.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to bring company-wide marketing campaigns to life.
  • Continually explore new channels for Sotheby’s Metaverse to use to grow our social media reach and further bridge the traditional and digital art worlds. 

Measuring success

  • Create and present regular reports measuring progress against goals. 

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • 4+ years of professional experience managing social media, ideally in-house on the brand side.
  • Experience working in all major social platforms, including but not limited to: Twitter, Discord, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, and more. 
  • Proven track record of engaging, efficient and newsworthy social media campaigns. 
  • Competent in using social media tools and DAMs (E.g. Curalate, Sprinklr, Sprout, Dash Hudson, etc).
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools including Adobe Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Ads & Business Manager is a plus. 
  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset, and is at ease with change and ambiguity
  • Is analytical and highly curious and creative, continually striving to improve their skills in the constantly evolving social media space; understands how to capture insights and apply that to the needs of the business. 
  • Possesses strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous priorities. 
  • Outstanding attention to detail, with a commitment to operational excellence. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator who can plainly tell stories based on data insights to various levels of colleagues (from junior to executive leadership). 
  • Collaborative and able to work cross-functionally across various levels of colleagues at the firm, building appropriate rapport, using diplomacy and tact. 
  • Has a positive, can-do attitude and wants to be part of a critical team.
