About us

The Science Museum Group (SMG) is here to inspire futures. As the world’s leading group of science museums, we share our unparalleled collection spanning science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine with over five million visitors each year.

We are open for all and are committed to inspiring the next generation of STEM. Engaging people with humanity’s greatest challenge – the fight against devastating climate change – is a major priority for our museums alongside reducing the impact of our own activity as we work towards achieving net zero by 2033.

About the role

To propel our sustainability strategy, we are looking for a diligent and inspired Sustainability Manager to deliver our commitment to Net Zero carbon emissions by 2033 for all of our sites across the group.

You will lead the monitoring, measuring and championing of our carbon emissions reduction progress. To review our work towards net zero, please read more here.

SMG operate a hybrid working pattern, and we are open for this role to be based at any 5 of our museum locations. However, occasionally responsibilities of your role will require your presence at sites across the group.

Salary: £39,000 – £45,000 per annum

You will have a good understanding and knowledge of environmental legislation, net zero reporting guidelines and current research in the field of sustainability. An effective and influential collaborator, you can engage stakeholders of all levels and produce clear reports to motivate action.
