Our trusted global marketplace is supported by a network of specialists spanning 40 countries and 50 categories, which include Contemporary Art, Modern and Impressionist Art, Old Masters, Chinese Works of Art, Jewelry, Watches, Wine and Spirits, and Interiors, among many others.THE ROLEWorking as part of the American Art Department as a Temporary Researcher, this individual will work closely with the team in New York in cataloguing and coordinating upcoming sales.


  • Support book checks, essays, and other research needs (with internal and external libraries)
  • Help organize listings and valuations
  • Assisting with photography support, including tagging images and updating spreadsheet
  • Peer revision of cataloguing text
  • Assistance with pre-cataloguing and inquiry research
  • Cross-reference cataloguing running list to administrator running list and updating regularly
  • Manage interest list and sale files (fact sheets, high-res images, and installation images)
  • Fielding inquiries from the main line, Client Services, and other colleagues
  • Support Cataloguing, Photo and Research processes at the highest quality standards
  • Coordinate with operations on Exhibition design spreadsheet and exhibition design order form
  • Assist with review processes, including cataloguing text and outstanding cataloguing to do list
  • Ad hoc projects and assignments as needed
  • Assist with lot card production and hanging
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours as needed for deadlines, installation, and previews

Ideal Experience & Competencies

  • Good, general knowledge of 19 th and early 20 th century American Art
  • Self-starter
  • A team player with excellent communication skills
  • Professional and discreet client service skills
  • Excellent writing, proof-reading, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain composure in a stressful environment and meet frequent deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Familiarity with Office Suite and Adobe programs

The expected hourly rate for this position ranges from $22/hour – $24/hour. Employees in this role may be expected to work overtime, and will receive additional pay at the applicable overtime rate. In addition to hourly wages and overtime, successful candidates will be eligible for benefits as required by law.
