About the Job

HOFA Gallery is offering a Volunteer Gallery Assistant position starting June 2022.

We are looking for an ambitious self-starter to help us engage the public with the gallery across different digital platforms. The position will be divided between a digital marketing and a gallery assistant role. There is prospect for progression into full-time employment for the right candidate.

This internship would suit those who have a strong interest or background in the arts and marketing and who want to gain valuable experience in exhibition planning, digital marketing and collection management. You will report to the Marketing Director, implementing and executing a cross-channel marketing strategy with the objective of increasing awareness and online traffic.

This is a 5 day a week position supporting senior members of staff and the smooth functioning of the gallery. Placement runs for 3 months in the gallery space; remote applicants are not considered. The role is not paid but covers expenses.

The job responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the senior management in the day-to-day operations of running the
  • gallery;
  • Responsible for admin tasks which will include working with Artlogic and Artsy digital
  • platforms;
  • Copywriting for social media and website;
  • Maintaining excellent understanding of current exhibitions in order to convey to the
  • public the concepts behind each show;
  • Manage the content scheduling on social media platforms. Regularly update the
  • Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn, and support Content Manager with Instagram;
  • Produce reports and create presentations;
  • Gallery stock management;
  • General gallery maintenance;
  • The following skills are required for the role:
  • Excellent writing skills with fluency in English is essential;
  • Excellent organisational skills: accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and work to deadlines;
  • Excellent time management;
  • Good knowledge of social media marketing;
  • Good knowledge of Adobe Indesign;
  • A good eye for content scheduling;
  • Knowledge of ArtLogic and Artsy systems or ability to learn quickly on the job;
  • Excellent organisational skills: accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Highly proactive approach is a must;
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving ability;
  • Ability and confidence to deal with a wide range of people;
  • Personal presentation and vibrant confident personality.
