German-Korean photographer Heji Shin is having an exhibit on at the Kunsthalle Zurich, causing probably the most controversy the placid country of Switzerland has likely seen in eons. Shin has shot Yeezy with his daughter North in Uganda, at home and in the studio.
Shin met with West for 10 minutes in Los Angeles last year, resulting in the nine portraits here.
The exhibit has caused negative comments to the Kunsthalle’s Instagram page.
“I knew people would hate this exhibition,” the artist told Artnet. “This desire to have art to meet their moral and political standards has always existed. Today, more than ever, art is considered as the ultimate validation. It’s easy to agree with publicly approved opinions. It protects you.”
