Halloween may be fast approaching but having read fantastic announcements last week, it feels like Christmas came early. Popular headlines of the week were acclaimed artist Anicka Yi winning the established Hugo Boss Prize with a fat $100,000 award, Karl Lagerfeld set to open a chain of hotels, and the Met Gala announcing their next Ball theme for next year! Although Whoopi Goldberg’s new line of “ugly” knits may provide you inspiration for your Halloween costume this weekend.
More below…

Next year’s cochairs of the Met Ball will involve Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, the great Anna Wintour, and Kawakubo herself.

The comedian and actress Whoopi Goldberg unveiled earlier last week her latest collection of “ugly” and “strange” unisex knits for the holiday season. It plays on the infamous “Christmas wooly jumper”, your grandparents forced you to wear on Christmas day – you remember Mark Darcy’s jumper in Bridget Jones, right? Whoopi however added a special twist to purposely render them weird: “I like Christmas sweaters – the stranger the better” she said to WWD. “You can’t call them ugly. Mine are kind of  ‘funny Christmas sweaters” she told Vogue. Will you add Whoopi’s new line of questionable Christmas jumpers to your wish list?
