Everyone’s favorite environmentalist and Oscar-winning film star Leonardo diCaprio recently bought a painting by Los Angeles artist Jean-Pierre Roy. The piece, entitled Landscape With Divergent Perceptual Reference Frames, shows three figures wrangling with what looks like either a surfboard or wrapping paper. The piece was bought from Gallery Poulsen, which had a booth at the VOLTA New York art fair last week, and sold for $38,000. This wasn’t no chance encounter though, Page Six reports that DiCaprio and Roy have been friends since they were kids. Friendship goes a long way.
