Louis Vuitton is making sure it will be the first luxury brand to be adopted by the women of the future. And it is doing this by incorporating AR – that’s augmented reality – into its accessories.
Having debuted during its 2020 Cruise runway show, Louis Vuitton’s latest handbags are made with “canvas of the future”, a state-of-the-art textile that displays high-resolution imagery.
LV has also created footwear that is light sensitive, changing colour as the mood shifts, and incorporating video screens. As the art world is taking note of new technologies, so is fashion. Louis Vuitton is always ahead of the curve, having previously collaborated with Yayoi Kusama and Haruki Murakami. No word yet on when we can buy these digital statement pieces, but we can promise we’ll be first in line once they become available.
