With Palazzo Grassi, he took Venice in 2005. Now, a decade later, he unveiled major plans for his collections future home in Paris and together with the city’s major, his son, François-Henri Pinault, and the world famous architect, Tadao Ando, luxury magnate François Pinault spoke about the ambitious plans for the upcoming landmark.

Originally home to the stock exchange, the neoclassical building sits just in “the belly of Paris.” Until most recently it served as the seat of the regional chamber of commerce, and as such, hosted a variety of trade shows and conferences. Scheduled to cost around €108 million to renovate, the Pinault Collection will hold a 50-year lease and the city of Paris will receive $7 million per year, plus royalties.

In addition to preserving several unique structures, such as the signature glass cupola, the five floor new museum will include 3,000 square meters of exhibition space – and a restaurant on the top floor (we already feel this will be sensational!).
The museum, which will be directed by Martin Bethenod, is scheduled to open in 2019.
