Celebrities sure made the headlines last week from Madonna calling “Art World Virgins” to accompany her to Art Basel Miami, to international superstar Rihanna posing next to an XXL-sized statue of herself by Colombian artist Juan Sebastian Pelaez. What is more, it was a week where women artists were celebrated for their achievements as Spürth Magers gallery honoured the work of five renowned female artists, and Yayoi Kusama will have a travelling exhibition to highlight her prolific career spanning 70 years.

One lucky winner and their plus one will go on an all-expenses-paid holiday including arty perks such as attending an art auction with Madonna herself, and sleeping at a four star hotel. How do you enter the competition, you may ask? By submitting an either small or large donation to the singer’s latest fundraising campaign “Raising Malawi”.

Still for “Killer Bees”_theartgorgeous
Mega-art dealer Larry Gagosian is teaming up with star NBA Lakers center Shaquille O’Neal to produce a documentary regarding the struggles of a black basketball team in the Hamptons. The film will be supported by members of the artworld, especially art collectors owing to Shaq’s connections in the field. Keep an eye out for “Killer Bees” – a “story that is worth telling”.

Sprüth Magers gallery recently put on an exhibition honouring 5 female artists they presciently chose decades ago, back when male artists dominated the art scene.
