The Chelsea Hotel in New York was a pillar of the 1970s art and music scenes – it’s where Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Jack Kerouac stayed affordably. Even into the 1980s, stars like Madonna and Andy Warhol made their name in the hotel’s circles. Since it closed for a renovation a few years ago, the hotel is auctioning off its hotel room doors where famed stars lived, which are going for $100,000. The doors were rescued by a former hotel tenant named Jim Georgiou, who caught them being thrown away, told The New York Times: “For me they were history and beauty and connected to my heart. They’re precious because there are so many people who’ve been through them.”
