Maurizio Cattelan Takes over Shanghai with Badass Art Spoofs

The artist is not only “present” but back from his supposed retirement from the art world.

Maurizio Cattelan recently opened a stunning showcase of spoof-filled artworks now on view at Shanghai’s YUZ Museum. On view are takes cues from pop-up museums and offers an immersive experience, from a mini Sistine Chapel to a fluorescent-lit pink hallway.

That’s the point, as Cattelan has spoofed famous works by 30 artists; from Marina Abramovic to Dan Flavin.
